Theres already a post on here about it... WOW HE DROVE SOME MEAN STUFF , BUILT IT AND I LOVE THE OLD PHOTOS OF THE DIRT TRACK HMMM I ONLY SAW THIS ON THE SPEED CHANNEL THE NETWORKS DIDNT COVER IT OH WELL,,HOLMAN MOODY WHAT A TEAM NASCAR pioneer and legend Ralph Moody died on Wednesday. He was 86. Moody and John Holman partnered to form one of the best race teams of the 1960s. David Pearson drove to 30 of his 105 career victories in a Holman-Moody Ford. He won 16 races in 1968 including both races at Bristol and 11 in 1969, winning the championship both years.
I met him a few times when I lived in Charlotte NC (early 70's) His reputation was that he was a moody SOB........but he was always nice when I met him. He was on top of the automotive world (NASCAR) at the time and talked to me.... ( a young 25 year nobody ) as a equal... He will be missed.........RIP .
One more automotive legend gone. A car guy SHOULD be a little sad today. Holman-Moody put Ford on the map in NASCAR, they were a dynasty. Frank
"Compe***ion Proven" was Holman and Moody's motto on their line of racing accessories and I remember running one of their window nets back in the day. Teams like them and the Woods Brothers made winners out of drivers like David Pearson and Marvin Panch. I'm sure Ralph will be crew chief on a golden 427 Ford running in the big "500" upstairs. Godspeed Mr. Moody.
