History Ram Rods Club, any surviving members?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by lothiandon1940, Aug 3, 2018.

  1. The Ram Rods Club of Silver Spring, Maryland hosted an annual Rod & Custom show at the District of Columbia National Guard Armory back in the 1960's. It was always well attended and was the highlight of the year for a lot of us local gear-heads. Does anyone know if any of the members of the Ram Rods are still with us? Does anyone remember the show itself? Please post up any pictures that you might have from attending the event.................Thanks, Don.

I started going to Ram Rods shows at the armory in 1965-1966. Participated in some and went to a lot to look. Great times. There are some of the old Ram Rods still around. The club is currently inactive . I am still in touch with Len Cottrell. Some other members were Bill Devro, Johnny Rocca, Hayne Dominic, John Speelman and more.

  7. Our club use to put a show on at the local armory during the winter and although the building wasn't huge we were able to squeeze in 24 cars and at that time we sold tickets 5 dollars and kids were free with their parents.

We had the show on Friday,Saturday & Sunday and the last year we hosted the show the turn out was amazing, we had a ball and I believe the attendees did also, we approached the powers that were in charge of the building and they wanted twice what we paid them the previous years.

At the time I knew everyone that had a hot rod or custom in town and you could count them on one hand and we were all in the same club.

    I miss those days. HRP

  10. I never was there... but I was at the Ram Rods club house once. I bought some parts from one of the members. Was a cool place. Was near an airport. Gene.
