Does anybody know if the power steering box out of a '68 AMC will fit in a 1964 American?

    Thanks!

Just a quick mention in case you're swapping parts over. The American had a different mounting pattern for manual versus a power box. If by chance you're upgrading to a power unit - be sure you get the factory adapter bracket. For the '64 American it is a sorta trapezoidal (sp?) looking thing that is made from steel. The later traingular 3bolt aluminum ones aren't gonna work. I recently went through this when I upgraded my '64 American to power steering.

    Good Luck

That's what I'm going to be doing is updating my '64 American. The "factory adapter bracket" would be the one from the later model unit right?

Just want to make sure I get it right.

    Thanks.

No that LATER MODEL one is the triangular aluminum gizmo - won't work I tried.

Your's is a goofy looking trapezoid looking one - I see them on Ebay on occasion - they are at times hard to find, but often go cheap as there's not alot of demand for them.

    The Column is also different.
