You never heard of the first HAMB drags with the Rocky vs Tuck and the raging rambler raceoff? Hell yeah, we got rambler g***ers. My 63 American had a flathead 6 with a 3 speed and Tuck's 65 American had an overhead valve 6 with an automatic.. First race, I "treed" Tuck for the win after we both put on a smoke show with burnouts. It was all downhill from ther after for me. I got beat, then put the fan into the radiator when a motor mount broke, then hit the nitrous ****on at the top of 2nd gear in 105 degree tems and damn near broke the engine with a fabulous lean-out...ended up getting banned for dumping antifreeze on the track.. Helluva race.
Man; I love those old Ramblers. I ALMOST got a CLEAN '64 american sedan instead of my '53 Plymouth. Iliked the looks of the Plymouth better though
I love ramblers, when I was looking for one I found a 68 Amc rebel and bought that instead....I love them g***ers though.......
There is a guy on here known as HemiRambler...I think he knows how to stuff a 392 into a Rambler with a steel tilt frontend

I love that second rambler.Don't know what year it is or anything but I love the comet doen the side, the round tails, the flat back all of it. I want one some day. Meanwhile back at the ranch,Here's one for ya. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=262834&stc=1&d=1168435747
Did someone say Rambler G***er??? Hell yeah!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=199512&d=1151270663 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=199511&d=1151270663
BigChief on here now owns this car (lots of history right there)....Its one of my favorites and gets my blood flowing every stinking time i'm at the garage!
yoBaby -- that's a 63 Rambler American Hardtop, 1963 ONLY!! The post sedan body was made 61-63 (as well as a convertible, two door wagon, and four door sedan/wagon). I can't believe someone put nitrous to a 196 flat head!! All the old 196 engines (flat and OHV) shared the same crank and rods, and they were forged, so the bottom end is stout enough. The cast pistons would be my concern, but they are rather thick and heavy compared to modern ones. The bigger Ramblers were different, and the earlier Americans look a little more like the early Volvos -- rounded. The 58-60 rounded and 61-63 "square" bodies both use the same ch***is, just a different firewall and exterior metal. All the gl*** is even the same. I'm a real Rambler/AMC nut... I can answer most questions about the early Ramblers! Just send me a PM or e-mail (farna@att.net). I print a little AMC/Rambler magazine (http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html).
You would be amazed at the "cars" I have seen racing. At a NHRA national event I saw a guy with a mid 80's ******, cl*** was something like NF/SA, or N Front drive/Stock Automatic, ran on a index of over 18 seconds, another time I saw a guy that had a Yugo that ran low 12's, normally aspirated and no nitrous. The amount of time this guy had tied up in making almost every part to hot rod a Yugo engine was unbelievable. To top it off he flat towed the thing to the track behind a stock Yugo, now that is dedication to a cause, no matter how misguided it may have been. Then again he claimed to have the worlds fastest Yugo and I never saw anyone dispute it. LOL
That is a riot. He probably has the last two 'breathing' Yugo's on the planet. Too damn funny. Please don't take my comment as a negative, because I believe whole-heartedly, that if it does have wheels, or they can be mounted to it, somehow, men will race it. I love that part.
Rebel Reaper has Rambler power, er, amc I mean. Look for an (fng) americanopel building a opel with amc power also.....I also have the holy grail of rambler engines.....The Grant Rambler Rebel SST funny car motor! Don
Ramblers are nice! Here is (again) my G***er... Project is still sleeping, but some sunny day... AMC 360+blower+manual...
Thanks blokes, A mate just got the red one in my initial post offa ebay cheap and was looking for ideas for a mild g***er type look.
Here's my 66 American future drag car. I hung on to the factory A/C stuff cause its the only one I've ever seen that has a knob that says "Desert Only".
I'm not sure what year this is, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=262777&d=1168408428 ..but there is one JUST like it, a 2dr sedan teal in color and seemingly dead stock, that has a for-sale sign around the corner from my office. I'll go take a peek if anyone is interested in buying a car from N TX.
The guy who built this is out of Seattle. His name is Mr Rich Builds wild ****. Has had many tech builds in HOT ROD magazine Said he did this in two weeks This is the guy that builds 2 door post 60's mopars out of 4 door sedans. Amazing vision. He made his name in Music Recording from what I hear. Cody
Have 3 Ramblers myself.. Everyone's Grandfather used to have one.. what can be more traditional than that?? Dont fergit the Drag-on Lady car. She raced a mid60's American in the day.

In the current issue of Rod&Custom there is a G***er pictorial and one of the cars is a 49 Packard 4DR sedan also a couple of Studebaker Larks, earlier in this thread the white car is a Lark not a Rambler..BFD
The car was sponsored by Castle products. The 'comet' is actually a dragon spewing fire. I'll try and get some additonal photos of the car posted up here. We've had the car since the mid-late 90's and have been pecking away at its restoration. It was left for dead in some kids back yard.....they were in the process of cutting it up to build a swamp buggy. The car is well known locally and has a long history. -Bigchief.
Don't know if this is a G***er or not...but it IS a Rambler. Hope to have it finished this Spring. ($$$)
