I'm good with big three customizing. Just picked up a 63 rambler classic 660 wagon. I've searched the net but can't find a parts catalog or company that can get me parts. Some will be stock stuff others will be whatever will work or fit. Its a fun old rusty dirty "rod" so restore is not where I'm heading. Just fun. Thanks ahead of time.
There's a guy near me that has many NOS parts. I've bought some stuff for my 63 wagon. He's a good guy. Look up jimsrestoration.com Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I may have explained my question wrong. Other then eBay or Cl. Can anyone recommend a catalog ie like year one, opg?
Yeah. It's a 63 660 wagon too. All I do is drive it. Replaced a bunch of front end parts six years ago when I got it. Bought parts from Jim. It's a V8. It's a little rusty but I drive it anywhere. Good reliable. Other than replacing the carb I haven't done anything but oil changes in years. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
So yer thinking there is some big after market support repopper for the AMC market. I do not believe so...............
I was surprised by what is still out there over the counter at parts stores. But I use www.americanpartsdepot.com alot.
That's the real challenge and fun of building an orphan car. You have to figure out what works and make things fit sometime, just like the "good old days" when there were just generic "one size fits all" custom parts that needed fitting. That was before my time, like the 50s and early 60s, but I've talked to enough of the old rodders to get the jist of it, and I've been running Ramblers since 1979. So you got yerself a "beater" Rambler. Try www.theamcforum.com for advice, but ask specific questions for best results. If you're thinking about re-powering with something more modern you'll draw a little flack, but no too much being as it's an older Rambler. Talk about re-powering a Javelin or anything made before 66 and you'll get a good bit though. The 67+ cars use the last of the AMC V-8s and there are still plenty parts out there. The pre 67 cars use the first generation AMC/Rambler/Nash V-8 that has no performance parts and is a bit on the expensive side to rebuild, so not so much flack (unless it's a 64+ American, which the late AMC V-8 easily drops in). Just ignore the flack and only answer constructive posts. That's the best way to handle that!
