Wow, great work, I am in the midst of redoing a 58', and am really loving seeing what you are doing. I think mine is not as bad as yours is, although I am still digging into it. After looking at kens65b's beautiful 57, I am seriously thinking of removing my moldings on the side of the vehicle, it makes a really clean look.
Thanks fellas. Here it is all ready for epoxy and now for filler. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Haha thanks! Yeah here's a little sneak peak. This is a quick little test panel I did to test colour. It's HOK silver mini flake over silver base and about three coats of teal Kandy. It will be done in a Watson panel style. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Excellent work sir, my hat is off to you. Like the Watson direction for the paint job too. Thanks for posting.
Well I've been slinging bondo for the last few days (hehe see what I did there?) and tonight it's in spray poly. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Update: So the engine is a '68 302. We pulled it apart and it looked great inside. Definitely looks to be a quality rebuild done and not long ago so we basically just threw new gaskets in and gasket matched the heads. One exhaust valve was wearing kind of funny so it got replaced. Edelbrock airgap intake was added and that's about it!!! New clutch, flywheel and water pump too while it was all apart. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I love this shot. The car looks cool, but its the windows and natural light coming in that really gets me. Envious!
Thanks. It was a great evening to have a beer and enjoy the sun and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment [emoji846] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Looks great! It looks like you are over the tedious annoying work. Now comes all of the really satisfying stuff.
Okay more updates. It's been a work marathon lately and I don't say that lightly. The days and weeks are blurring together and I'm burning out. Thank goodness for a lot of help from some good friends. Dash reassembled and steering wheel painted pearl white. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Ready for the booth All the HOK Flake on. Looks like a fishing lure Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
And now all sanded down. Looks like primer again haha. I towed the car to a friends shop to do the Kandy so that we could leave it in his booth through the whole painting process which will be four days because our booth is too busy. HOT DAMN! that looks awesome. I love the dash. You are pulling out all the stops on this girl. WICKED COOL!
Hahahaha yeah he signs his stuff with some kinda phallic stick man figure. And thanks! We're on the home stretch now! How's yours coming? Any updates? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Brought my son Jack out to help sand it down for a re-clear. He actually did pretty good! We'll clear it again today and hope that's enough to bury any masking lines. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Looking most excellent. I saw a black '57 over by the Cobblestone Pub. It looked like it had Edsel tail lights. Do you know of this one? DJ
Thanks Dave. The only black Ranchero I know of around has no side trim and side pipes. I think it has stock tail lights though. Sound like it? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Looking good but I kind of like the way the green contrast with the blue, even though I know it's tape. It just caught my eye better than the silver. But overall, I like how the Ranchy is looking.
