Needed some quiet time, so I decided to dedicate the day after lunch to the darkroom to work on my printing. Found shots of this old modified. I don't remember a thing about it, but I believe I shot these at the first or second Hot Rod Revolution in Penngrove, CA.
Just when you think you have seen all the cool tricks & modifications you post this car, I'm super impressed, I really like the old wavy Plymouth axle, I looks like it was made for this car. HRP
I am really wondering about the engine. Exhaust and intake on opposite sides. Either late model or maybe a Miller or Riley?
Ok, I think this is the one built by Brizio, it has an Alfa engine in it. I saw it heading south on the I5, it was being driven, over 20 some years ago.
Love nearly all of it. Nice clean work. I see two things off,I would not of done. But I look at every rod that way, even my own and see things I should of done better.{ Know, it's likely builder may of known better later, and or, left good enough as it was. Out of time or just being the way it was.[ vs in some cases, never knew better ! And no longer matters= Why I love them, even when not 100% how I think! Cool Rod+. Great pic's too !
Looking it over tells me anything is possible. Surely tho the builder is a craftsman. Thank You I dig it, when you shuffle your deck.
These shots and this ride, are not as classy as the shots that Ryan posted, but ya gotta love it when a builder thinks outside of the box! As seen at the "CHRR" at "FAMOSO", a number of years ago!
Worked on a bit of color last night... Car needs no introduction I guess. Taken with a 35mm Summilux on a Leica M6. Portra 400. All seem a bit under-exposed to me except for the last one...
Back in 2017, I shot Lou's roadster while my kids were at Disneyland. My plan was to do the whole shoot on film, but I chickened out last minute - afraid I would screw something up. So, instead I shot both digital and film and then color matched afterwards. This one is film without the grading... and was prolly my favorite of the whole shoot. I look back at the set now and wish I would have just picked a format and skipped the color grading all together.
The builder/owner was a really interesting guy to talk to, don't recall his name but heard he died not long after. Chatted with him at length at Famoso many years ago, the whole time checking the thing out, not everyones cup of Joe but found something cool and new at every turn.
Out with Jimmy, Kevin, Steve, and Blake—deep in the heart of Louisiana, somewhere between nowhere and regret. It was 2am, maybe later... The kind of night where the drinks don’t stop flowing and time dissolves into a hazy blur of bad decisions and strange laughter. I woke up the next day with a hangover like a freight train and a roll of Tri-X in the Leica M6. Didn’t even remember taking this shot, but there it was—ghostly, grainy, alive. Somehow, it felt like it caught the truth of that wild, drunken swamp night. The best shot I took that whole weekend and it wasn't on purpose. I actually printed this one. Sometimes the film remembers better than I do.
I think a hefty, supported roll bar would be in order for a modified, having been recently rearended in my 32, I cringe to imagine the results were I driving a modified. be safe out there.
