The drags were fun. Bob's Willys coupe had it's maiden run by itself in an awesome display of horsepower and speed. Sadly it sprang a transmission line leak and did not run again because Bob did not want to make the track unsafe from any oil drips from his car. All I can say is it was IMPRESSIVE.

thanks for all the great shots, Paul.

Did you see that Joyce was there? Does Sandy know?

Is she the reason the liquor store at the host hotel was closed?

This truck was unbeaten at the drags and was the crowd favorite. If you don't believe me, ask one of the 1,000 or more spectators. <center>

Well Mr. Pro, I may not be "the sausage king" like you but we are a happy couple. Your jealousy is showing just like Bob.

Here is a photo of me at the drags. It was my first time and I killed it right at the starting line as the flag man sent us off. After that, I got the hang of it and made several passes. It sure was fun. There was a lot of late model muscle cars and ricers running out there. On my last run of the night, a very fast Camaro got out ahead of me and I watched in what seemed like slow motion as his hood came off and sailed thru the air like a frisbie. No one was hurt however. The little stock Rambler 6 cylinder held it's own all night in the T bucket roadster as Larry and I flogged it hard. Now I wanna be a drag racer when I grow up.............<center>

This show elects a new member in it's KKOA hall of fame each year. And every year these inductees gather at one table and sign autographs. I went thru the line and had my poster of the late Elden Titus signed. This is a great way to honor and preserve Kustom car history. But I have to tell you a secret.............HAMBERs are taking over this event and many others. <center>

My friend and local hot rodder Joe Adcock who is paralyzed from the waist down bought this 32 Tudor body at the Wichita swap meet a few years ago and it is now a driver. He did alot of work himself including engine building at his home shop but did farm out some work to Keith Bright's Hot Rod shop. He is wheelchair bound and has one of those lightweight chairs that have the removable wheels. The long doors of this car make it easier for him to crawl in and pull the chair in afterwards. Check out the hand controls which allow him to run the pedals. YES, HE RAN IT THRU THE DRAGS! <center>

LOL! That's funny right there. But I have no comment on her bruised arm except to say it is possibly caused by recent scuffle with police. Nonetheless, she was a real sweetie at the show .

Cool! Sololobo is wearing a shirt for which I did the art! I used to hang out with the Rumblejetts in KC when I lived there and they asked me to do the art for their CD "Cool Down Baby". I still have the original ink sketch hanging on the wall in my garage.

Wish I could have been there. Looks like one helluva show this year. (of course, it always is). Maybe next year my pickup will be finished and I'll combine a visit home with attendance at this show. Sounds like a plan :D

There were over one thousand cars entered at the 3 day event. Almost all cars were able to park in the shade of trees which is no small feat in KANSAS! This is not exactly the tree capitol of the world. I did not take many car photos because I like to shoot them in the sun. I will leave that to the experts. I am going back to the wrap up and awards today.

Swap meet was small in size and big in quality. I bought three vintage engines and cool valve covers. <center>

  27. Some photos from Sat. Got a new camera getting used to. It is a pain trying to get a decent pic with so much sun and shade in the same place.

My computer is processing 386 pics from yesterday and I'll try to start to he slow process of uploading to my site before I leave to head back in for more. There are just too many to try to put in a thread but I'll give everyone a link when they are up.
Either way I should have more pics than you can shake your shifter at by the time I pass out tonight.
Thanks Povertyflats (my uncle) for suggesting that I join this site, lots of cool people here and it was great to meet a few of you.

  30. I'll post some more in a bit. Got baby duty now.
