    A Ranger powered sprint car was also the 1953 USAC national champion.

  6. The car is cool and all (except for the air filter:p) , but Ranger engines are poo poo, IMO. The best thing about Rangers was that you could buy them for as little as 20 bucks surplus, brand new, after the war. Uncle Sam bought into them in a big way, for use in trainers, but then found out that they were unreliable, and rarely if ever delivered their advertised horse power. I've tried, and can't even get much for them from collectors even today. I guess they're cool if you have a huge hard on to build an experimental aircraft with an in-line.
