Feeling like a jerk tonight. My wife got a note from the Customer Service Department at Dennys Drive shaft while I was out of town last week and this weekend. They gave me a full refund to my M/C account including shipping charges on the u-bolt kit. Tomorrow Im sending back the parts with a note of thanks. Im offering an apology to everyone here to help try to get the egg off my face and the taste of crow out of my mouth. Like I said in the original post, I need to listen to that small voice more often.
I, for one, am glad you came back on here and admitted your mistake. There aren't many guys out there that would do that. My kudos to you. It's very encouarging to see that there are still some people with principles out there. Maybe this country isn't dead after all.
Still.....................just think if Denny had handled it differently in the first place. The origional post would have been kudos to Denny and possibly more sales. Instead, if the first few readers of this thread don't get back to it and read the final outcome a few (or many) will still potentially have a bad taste in thier mouths about Denny's. One of my mentors ran an auto parts store where I worked for about a year. When I first started he said to me, "do an outstanding job and no one will hear about it. Screw up once and the whole world will know". He ALWAYS stood behind his counter people when they bent over backward to satisfy a customer, even if the customer was entirely wrong. Frank
Also true. 43gman is stand-up. Denny's reaction in the OP would still have me thinking about someone else. Who needs the h***le?
Is there a possibilty that this post was read by the owner of this business, who then had a change of heart? Squeaky wheel....
I hear what some of you are saying. May I suggest a different veiw... As someone who has werked in the over the counter parts biz, how is ANY COMPANY responsible for what the end user does with the part after it leaves? If the part is defective, it's defective, shouldnt that be determined BEFOR instalation? But if a company sells you a nut, and bolt, which should always be started by hand, and torqued to the correct amount and those procedures are not followed by the end user... who is to blame? We are all responsible for our own actions... own it, it's yours Even with Denny sending out a refund to do "good business" that company lost out, through no fault of it's own. Sadly it's the new American way, no one is responsible for their action, blame it on someone else, and whine until someone else takes care of your responsibilities, or picks up your slack.
Don't... you may have caught him at a bad time and it looks like everything worked out. We all have our days and despite everything the right thing happened in the end. If you need any help in finding local places to do business let me know. There are some great people to deal with right here in NC.
