hot rod was the first car mag i started reading, back when i was probably about 12. I've gone back and forth between loving and hating it, but in the end i can get into just about anything that has four wheels and is old. I can see both points of view because the centerlines, air shocks, chain wheels, ratchet shifters, etc aren't something i'd think anyone would want to remember.

p.s. i think every alliance member should get one of those suitie things. You guys would look so cool all decked out in those in the next HAMB group picture.

"I love it when a plan comes together"

If they could fix that Trans Am with a set of tv repair tools, then I figured I could fix hot rods.

I just had an accident... that is awesome.

For the record, I like what Hot Rod is doing, and am glad they are finally coming around to the Day 2 stuff. Some of us have been doing it for years.

I started building cars in the late 70's early 80's and loved that style. Big hood scoops (on cars with a tunnel ram or blower), non-anodized Centerlines, Gold Moroso valve covers, cool cans, Accel coils,Torker intakes, Pro-Trac N50-15's & 15X4's with VW tires in front, lots of cool custom paint jobs (I could never afford). Sure, a lot of ugly **** came out of the 80's, but take alook around, I see some ugly **** pop up right here on the Hamb. Pick any build era and you can be sure there was some cobbled together **** going together in a garage somewhere. One thing I'll say about the 80's, we beat them muscle cars within an inch of their lives, raced em', broke em' fixed em' and raced em' some more. It's a shame most of them now feature chalk marks on the firewalls and "correct" hoses and smog pumps. They will probably never turn a tire in anger again.

If the 80's were 'like 20 years ago' then what were the 40's,50's and 60's?
    Like old?
Every decade will be remembered and should be..whether its good or bad we all need reminding of the good

Still a great mag. I am in my 50th year as a hot rodder .hot rod was the catalyst in the early days and is responsible in part for where we are today. It still puts a smile on my face when i find it in the mail box.

  17. I'm thinking the guys who hate the 80's... weren't really there.

Either that or they just jumped the bandwagon onto the next popular fad.

    I dunno...I know hemi's got my back!

I'm personally boycotting HR until they print a 12 page in depth article on the greatest machine of the 80's... quite possibly the greatest car produced in history...

I was ok with the issue. I had a lot of fun in the early eighties and still like Centerline Auto-Drags but someone needs to go feed that chick.

Sadly, this thread isn't related to traditional hot rodding.
