hmm... well i'm usually always pissed about something anyway!

  2. The maddening thing is that I know it costs no more to make a part that fits than to make a part that doesn't fit, or one that kinda sorta fits.

  3. Two questions -

Are you sure they sent the right part you asked for?

and if it is right - is it made to use with like a slip on original style battery case/cover for the resto guys? Or some other reason that it's not made to use with a modern group whatever battery case?

I like your attitude about using it though, take the time to actually work on it to make it fit.

If more guys did that, I'd get less stupid questions like a clown who emails up on a car that comes with the front fenders loose inside, says he sees some pictures of the car with the hood and fenders on, some with it off, which is he buying? There's only one car, I said in my description the fenders are loose, and the hood's never been off it. Stuff like that is why I get pissed. Not only do some guys not work on stuff, they can't even fucking read.

I agree, stuff like this annoys me to. I'll buy a part for a certain application and I still need to cut, weld, and drill it to make it work. You buy something to save time, then you wind up spending more time making the "right part" fit than you would have if you just made it.

The quality and fit of after market parts has seem to have gone down over the past couple of years.

I've had some good genuine American made shit too, sadly :(. $300 for a replacement dashpad for the Galaxie from Dearborne Classics, they only come in black (fine for me, that's what I needed). Shows up, not black, just whatever the natural color of the material was, I'd call it charcoal (DEFINITELY not black! at all). Call 'em up and they KNEW, said they can't get them to stay black after the molding. After enough bitching they sent me dye to dye it. TRY to put it in and the damn thing doesn't fit. AT ALL. None of the fasteners were in the right spot and they proceeded to tear off the pad 5 minutes in. Had to attempt to glue it down, it's already lifted back off. Piece of GARBAGE! It's so bad I may have to replace my replacement.

LOL, don't even get me started on their 40 body parts, not even close....

Sorry man, but when someone sells a "replacement" part it should fit where the part is replacing it. There should be no adapting.

Now look what you got started Willie, shame on you. You know everyone who ever bought an aftermarket part has gone thru at least that much grief to tryt o make the piece of shit fit , and/ or work. It's part of the warranty ; 'guaranteed to drive you completely screamin' fuckin nuts'. Have a nice day.

  10. Danchuck, Corvette Central, etc. bought cars to make blueprints and molds from. Maybe the 'mold' car had been a total wreck at one time or wasn't quite as original as they thought.

On the same theme, I bought a new Mexican 'Goodwrench' 350 engine for my work truck a few years ago. On the left head, I had to hog out the exhaust manifold bolt holes an unreasonable amount just to get it bolted-up.

NOBODY CARES AFTER THEY HAVE YOUR CASH

Quality is a lost art, just take a look at a pair of 501 Levi's.

In the 1970's you'd have to wash a new pair 5 or 6 times before wearing because of the harshness of the material. Nowdays, you can wear them before washing and after washing 6 times you've lost 1/2 of the color of the denim.

    The world is doomed.................

For every good kit there's a shit kit

  13. You parts counter guys that were in the biz back in the '70's before the offshore shit started showing up, think back. How often did a part that was correct for it's application come back in the store because it didn't fit?
Lots of times, if it came back it was because the application was wrong, or the owner had modified the application somehow. Now we seem to be resigned to the fact that parts aren't supposed to fit. Bullshit! A good part should go on as seamlessly as the original part that came off.
    It's about profit.

That's why I don't buy from vendors. I find it is just as easy and more fun to find what I need and make it work.

No shit, huh Waldo! You know I don't mind buildin' my stuff--so after a cooling -off period, I'll just "re-modify" all parts. More fun that way, anyway.
Did you ever get to see my roadster--man,I loved to had you draw it!

this is one of the reasons i don't buy "new" parts if i don't have to

the other one is that i'm friggin broke.

Danchuk sux. I have restored 6 55 Chevy's and I will never buy a part from them after they screwed me on a fuel sending unit.
