Hey Eelco Heads I recall I asked Hotskins to pass on the contact details for this motor if he was going to pass on it. I did call the owner in Texas but passed on it glad you got it and is in Australia. What you going to put it into?

Some real neat set-ups here on this thread, that's for sure.. I was always more fascinated with looking at rare distributors/mags then at rare heads or intakes..

Wish I could have seen the mag set-up that was used on my old dirt track car back in the day...

The original builder said his brother managed to graft and airplane mag onto a stock Ford load-a-matic base and ran it in their 8BA. He said they tried various fuel mixtures, and even tried mixing gasoline, turpentine, and shoe polish at one point..

I also have a Barker Twin casting and another complete setup that needs to be assembled.
Since I'm overseas it will take me some time to get picks of those two up.

I used to have a Pounden mag for an Olds that looked similar to that Veco. A Wico magneto with a new base for the engine and special top casting for a mid-50's Ford distributor cap. Maybe Veco was related to Pounden?

I had a SBC Pounden mag, found at local flea market back in the 80s for not many dollars. lot of that high end West Coast stuff found its way to NH due to SAC airbase in Portsmouth. Sent it back to George and he rebuilt it. I believe, been a few years, he said it was made in '57 because he had TB and didn't build SBC models after that. Funny thing was I had found an adv in Hemmings for Pounden magnetos and called the number. Guy named Pounden answered the phone and I stupidly said "I have an old magneto that mayber your father made". His answer was "hell I made that magneto". Ran it on the street in a couple of cars, '48Chev coupe and '32 Phaeton, with a Man-A-Fre, made a bitchin looking small block. It is still around here, guy I sold it to was going to put it on the '32 coupe but I don't think he ever will.

Is Pounden still around or his shop?? I'm running one of his mags in a flat head dragster and love it.

  22. Vertex on the 8BA and Harmon & Colins mag on the 59AB.
8BA is in my 36 coupe, the 59AB is in my 32 coupe.

Beautiful engine. Consider one of my spiffy coil brackets to make it even better.
