So, who's got some neat OLD intake manifolds for V8 Flatheads? I'll start... They aren't mine, but I've never seen another.

    Rocket made in Portland, Oregon.

I agree. It looks very finished, less crude than a lot of early castings, especially obscure ones. If it weren't for that chunk missing on the water intake flange, you'd be excused for thinking it was a modern piece.

Thats not a water intake flange, it where the oil filler/ fuel pump goes. flatheads have the water necks(plural, one on each side) on the heads

Of course it's not. I forgot that flatheads had water directly to the heads. But I don't know flatheads that well. Distributor hole?

"the intake guy" that is at alot of the Goodguy/NSRA shows has a couple of don't touch, their not for sale, but I bring them to show off intakes. I took pics at Indy, but don't have them at work.

I may just be another ignorant teenager, but I think that someone should repop a manifold similar to the rocket style. I think it would be best if they used a different name than rocket so that you couldnt have people claiming that they have an original rocket flathead manifold when its just a re-pop, but you get the Idea. I really like the finned center. I think it would be a nice touch rather than average joes intake. And of course it would be best to use modern engeneering to make it a good performing manifold as well.

One of the many from the same phot album that caught my attention:

Theres a reason the good old super dual outlived the rest. Other than the fact that it was made by edelbrock. Plenty of other manifolds look better, but that one is the most sensibly engineered and performing. Just my .02c

That may be true, but if you run a flathead nowadays you need to shake things up to be noticed. Edelbrock intakes and heads are the mods repopped item for flattys but try to find a really unique model. my .02 :D

And pay really unique money, for less performance and tuneablility. Of course, I sold a perfectly good SD to run an eddie meyer, and the only thing I regret was leaving that intake on my last car when I sold it. Drew

Please, keep the pics coming. I'm enjoying this one a lot. I am looking for something different for my flathead. Does anyone have any more detailed shots of Weiands? I know they made several different types, but I've never seen pictures except the one shown here. Thanks ahead of time.

Here's a picture of the Weiand. As well as my pride and joy, Ord.

I'm looking for Ord heads to match. Anybody got any?

Mal Ord's are great to look at with the 2 winfield S carbs. Is that an early or late model? The early ones didn't run well 'cause gas collected and ran to the end of the log, as flatheads were mounted at an angle. Flooding the rear 4 cyls. and starving the 4 front ones. He corrected that in the later castings with a small dam in the center.

Still, that would bring a pretty penny today. :D

This must be post-war Eddie Meyer then. Note the block letter logo on the lower plenum. Totally different from the power boat/racer logo on Tommy's.

Hexagon Tool was made in Indy for the Miller-Fords. Some ran this and some ran a Miller 4X2 design. Not sure if they ware made specifically for boats.
