Here's a weird little item. I was told it was a factory mess up. See.... it's mispelled, and upside down.... I guess. ??

I wonder if that little gem was an Honest Charley or JC Whitney ripoff? I once saw some mag wheel center caps that said "CRAGER" on them, spelled with an e instead of an A, never figured out that one either.

Either way, that thing is really cool. Wanna sell it?

Hey loogy, is that 4 carb manifold an Edelbrock??
Saw one for sale last weekend at a swapmeet complete with carbs.
Great pics everyone, keep 'em coming.
BTW wasn't the Weiand intake a copy of the Thickston PM-7??

Hexagon reputed history: Made for Miller-Ford 1935 Indy car. Most of team used 4 Miller carbs, one used 2 Strombergs and was faster, I believe. Bacwards because car was FWD with engine backwards. Cast postwar for speed equipment sale--I think most have a 1947 date cast on. Sales pitch was that backwards carbs allowed a properly spaced dual with generator located in middle. Not boat.

Thickstun PM-7, Tattersfield, Edelbrock's early block letter high-rise, Weiand. All generally the same design. Keep the carbs up high with long runners so you can use the stock fittings...gen. mount, ect... All those were for street use so you could install quickly.

I guess that's why the carbs are backwards.

Maybe it's just a really cheap knockoff?

    "Sure, it's a genuine bonafide Edlebrock" :p

About fifteen years ago, back when I was even more of a dumb *** than I am now, I sold a '36 Ford five window coupe that I had. I've been regretting it ever since. To top it off I threw a vintage four carb aluminum Edelbrock intake in with the car when I sold it...and get this, it had four stromberg 97's mounted on it and the generator bracket.

Lately I have actually been thinking about seeing if I can get it back, but I'm betting my chance are reeeaalllly slim.

    I am such a f**king *****...

  26. Shuter manifolds were made by Ron Shuter here in New Zealand. They are very similar to Edelbrock, and have terrific flow and tuneability. His son, Neal Shuter became the NZ beach racing champion many times in his Shuter Special, a single seater with all flatty running gear and those rare commercial wide fives. Despite being the most antiquated racecar on the beach racing scene, nothing could touch it.

Ron Hogan also made intakes and twin-plug heads, some of which survive today on flattie dragsters.

There were a couple of other guys making them too, but my memory is a bit foggy on them. The Shuter and Hogan ones were streaks ahead of the rest. The reason there was a strong homemade presence here (there were only 2 million people in NZ in the 60s) is beecause our gubment had very tight import restrictions in force, thus paving the way for the inventiveness of these guys and others like Bert Munro.
