  2. Do home made wheels count? I've got a set of mid-year Corvette knock-off's that have been widened(2 15x8, 2 15x10) There were only 4 or 5 sets built by these two guys I know back in the mid 70s....

Got a set of early(no ribs) 15x8 American T-70s....that's as close to rare as I can get:eek:

  3. Saw a pair of 15x15 American 5 spokes on an old Chevy delivery in a rod mag back in the late 80's or early 90's - it was this big old, refrigerator white pro streeted monster - very cool. The wheels though were truly unique - they had gussets cast into the front of each spoke for additional strength and were called, you guessed it, gusseted 5 spokes. I have never, ever seen another pair. Sorry for the crappy pic.

You've been holding out a few years to post that one, huh? :D :p

Seriously though, I think you've just pulled up a really great wheel. Can't say I've ever seen that one.

Here's a couple of mine. With the advent of the internet, a lot of rare stuff has become pretty common. I'd love to find a pair of 15 x 10 or 12 Dragmaster wheels to match the fronts.

  9. Nothing rare about early Ford wide-5's.....but I've been told my early '36 windowed drums are not very easy to find.

  13. I figured they were pretty scarce - by the way, those Goodyears are very cool - do you have a full set? Are they 16s?

I started out with 4 wheels and 2 caps. Now I've got about 8 wheels and 12 caps. One of the caps is NOS.
I have some wheels that are very similar but have yet to identify them.

I have a old set of 14x6 mid-60's MT 5 spokes. Looks like torque thrust, but the middle/face is aluminum, welded to a steel hoop. Anyhow, the center hole isn't machined, they have to be balanced by the lugs (lug centric). Anyone have any tricks or adapters so they can be balanced on modern equipment? I've called around, and no tire shops even know what i'm talking about, so they're just collecting dust.

Hey Mojo, try America's Tire - I took my 1960s 16" x 8.5" US Wheel Torq Thrust clones into new America's Tire store in Huntington Beach - (a bit far for you) - and they not only knew what I was talking about - young guy in his 20's - but even showed me their lug centric adapter. He thought they have them in most of their stores.

Not mega buck magnesium but not very common either. Indy 500s I think but they had several names as the molds got sold over the years.

They were also called "Drag Mags" and if they are the real drag mag they will say drag mag in the bolt hole area. I sold my last set for $150 because they were Chev pattern and all the Ford guys wanted them, had they been Ford pattern could have sold them for double.

I've got some magnesium wheels that are probably worth a lot more, but the wheels I owned that were the rarest I ever owned was probably this set of Cragar Mach 8's. I never saw very many sets of them, even when they were available. Wish I had a set of 15X10's and 15X4's for the 55 I'm working on now.

ok, this one looks plain but, it has the mechanical brake type two plane bolt pattern, Thus making it an aftermarket disc wheel for 28-35 Fords

Here's my stack of artillery wheels. Not a whole set in the group.

General Jumbos, in 14", 15" and 16" I've got a few sets of these.

And this isn't mine but we have them because we're about to rebuild them for somebody. An original 15" Adjustable Spoke kelsey-Hayes. And you thought 16" Bent spoke kelseys were rare. Bet you never even heard of these. I've got a few sets of bent spokers too.

I was at the shop so could only take pictures of stuff that was there, the real rare stuff is at home.

  30. Damn...no I don't. I don't know why I didn't put it on watch...it's not like I don't watch stuff I never buy, right? I might not have even noticed if it hadn't been for seeing the pair on this thread. Sometimes we do dumb shit.
