Saturday was the Rat Rod Rumble in Maryville, TN. LOTS of PoorBoys and GreezyHubcaps in attendance despite the all day rain. Since it was kinda on our way home from Hartsville we decided to go even with the forecast not looking so dry. Besides, what was I gonna do with a hundred or so cookies:D

It was great to finally meet a few more of the TN HAMB folks in person and spend some time with "old" HAMB buds as well. Thanks for treating us "northerners" like one of the gang. It was a bummer no one got to race but we are looking forward to next time when hopefully we can make it down the track.

This was the view I saw when arriving at the show. You'd think the PoorBoys and GreezyHubcaps were made outta sugar the way they were all huddled under the canopys all day.

  5. Great pics as usual Denise! Thank you.

  6. I love seeing this. Guys and girls hanging out in the rain with their cars. when it friggin rains in so-cal and you go to a regular meeting spot or cruis night it is friggin dead. all the "hard core" stay home cause thier cars will melt in the the rain I guess.

We are so spoiled in So-Cal that we most guys won't bring their rods/customs out if it LOOKS like rain. I hate that shit. I drive mine with no wipers and leaky windshield even if it rains but when I get to the friday night spot there are 4 or 5 of us when if it is sunny there are 50 or 60.

    You guys ROCK!!!!

Thanks for posting pics!...I didn't take any.

It sure was nice seeing you again HRLC....but damn, what a miserable day.
Mud and rain...mud and rain. The sick thing was that on Sunday, it was beautiful out here. NO rain, clear skies....if it would have only been that way 12 hours earlier, that show would have KICKED ASS. Hell, it was still cool. but a little racing would have really made it great.

    Can't wait till next year.

    Later,
    Tingler

That car belongs to one of our club members. He's on the HAMB, just not too often. Maybe he'll chime in and give you some more details....

Here's what Big Olds looked like when we left Mike's shop. Since the forecast did not look pleasing at all, we decided to trailer him. Imagine that, Big Olds's first car show with shiny paint and he gets trailered in. :D I was told I was going to get kicked off the HAMB..... :D

    Sigh . . . Big Olds on a trailer.

It's like watching the Sunday news and seeing footage of your teenage son marching in a gay pride parade.

But at least he's well-dressed. Looks GOOD Denise!

    Denise,

Looks like I missed a good time even with the rain. I still want to get some of those cookies you're famous for! The rain reminds me of last year when Mac VanPelt, his brother and I met in Columbus, OH. with a guy from Bolder, Co. called Rumbelseat. Rumbleseat was on his way home in his flatty powered '34 roadster. Not raining hard but still raining and he pulls into the Quaker Steak and Lube with the top down. Asked him why he didn't put the top us he said "Won't hurt me I use Rainex for aftershave!"

He had already been from Bolder to the west coast of Florida, then back up the east coast to New York, then back through Pensylvania and into Ohio. After leaving us he went to Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and then Minnesota and on home. Think he drove about 7,222 miles on that trip, by himself and he's just a young pup at 73 years old! Only problem on his whole trip was a broken Bendix somewhere east before he joined us.

Look at that pic! What kind of dumbass would drive open top rods in the rain! Mmmmmmmmm nevermind............ THATS ME IN THE FLAMED TRUCK AND MY FRIEND MIKES T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
We sure got WET, but what the hell. If those guys went to the trouble to put on a great show my ass is gonna be there to support them.
I had a great time! Lots of HAMBER's there.
Jalopy43 (sparky!) has a cool ride! Didn't get to see his FIRE-BURNOUTS, don't think you could have set the tires on fire with Napalm in that weather! (and my NEW Hurst cheater slicks didn't do very well in the rain!)
Was looking forward to Tingler doing some airbrushing but it was not to be, weather and such.
Oh yeah, Denise (super nice gal!), I didn't even get a chance to sample the cookies you gave me! I ran back to my truck with them and as I started to hand my wife one I noticed a guy standing there with two kids. .....well you know what happened to the cookies! They did say they were good.
I think a great time was had by all! John

  26. Do you have any pics of these cars?

We rode 3 hours in the rain up to Tn, and 3 hours back in heavy rain.Nothing like throwing rooster tails on the interstate!I don't think some of the passing car enjoyed it as much as I did.Great show, even with the shitty weather. Just goes to show you that all you need is good people and cool cars to have a good time! special thanks to Dan for a good show! see yall next time.
