I need to paint just a little panel in Wimbledon White. Does anyone know of a Rustoleum or Krylon color that closely approximates this in a rattle can. It costs more to get a pint and clean the gun than the rattle can costs by far.

    Thanks!

Is Wimbledon White a pure white? I build control panels and the subpanels are painted with the brightest white I've ever seen. If I have to paint something to match the panel it's next to impossible to find, every white out of a spray can looks yellow when put up to the subpanel. The closest I've found is appliance white.

Wimbledon is actually an off white. I have a parts store near me that has Duplicolor products. If they don't have it they can probably order it in for me. It should be fairly common.

Thanks! Never thought of that one.

Harbor Freight purple gun. Don't clean it. Just toss it out when done.

You can get a quart of acrylic enamel for $70. Just $95 with hardner.

    Acrylic urethane is $105.

Rattle can does not last, or withstand weather well.

No, I meant $18.00 for that can on Amazon I posted above. It is the cheapest Wimbledon White in a spray can I have found. Paint store cans are $50 locally!

Bandit Billy recommended what I have used. The Dupli-Color Wimbledon White is a perfect match for the India Ivory on the roof of my '55 Delray. The Dupli-Color paint is good quality and very affordable.

I can spray about anything with my DeVilbis and Sata guns. My local paint supplier is around $120.00 for the stuff to shoot my dash and steering wheel. Things are getting to the point you can't afford this hobby anymore doing things right. I'm about $2,000.00 away from being driveable so I'm watching every nickel. I'd love to know how guys say they built they're whole car for 5G or less. If I added up what I have in this it would be interesting to say the least.

The point of this question was if I could save a few bucks on finishes. I should come to the realization that if I want to lay a decent finish on the Vicky I'm going to need to drop an additional 4-5K on primers and finish. The car turned out so nice it seems a shame just shoot it in flat black rustoleum and not do the bodywork. I can do everything myself so no labor costs but the price of materials is getting up there.

I may just shoot the dash/steering wheel in some decent paint and crap out the exterior. Jurys out yet.

Throw in a few hundred more in wet sand paper, compound and bonnets. Compound is triple the price of what it was a year

Tell me about it! Everything in the shop costs way more now. I've done some really beautiful finishes in my shop over the years but I'm thinking I might just straighten the body well and shoot it in a matt dark, dark grey for now. I would really like to drive this thing this year to the Fall run in Wildwood, (which might get cancelled or at least severely restricted), due to some incidents with the tuner cars in the past. This could be the last one for this outing and I'd like one more shot at it.

Just for the record here, the Fall Run is the old Boardwalk Nationals. It is restricted to pre '65 but tuners show up and nobody minds unless things get out of hand. Two runs ago there was a "flash mob" organized on the internet that had a load of them come and there were numerous police actions due to fights, serious burnouts in circles and the like at intersections and several accidents. At least one person was killed and a few were injured. Since then things are iffy with the City. The TROG does better here probably due to better self policing and less street BS so it will remain to be seen how it fares. It's a shame because Wildwood used to be a great place to spend the weekend and have some fun in the streets.
