To the NAY sayers out there this is far from an RR and its the very core of how racing began and through this beginning how you have what is considered a race car today. Without us old pioneers you would still be trying to roll a square wheel down the road with a stick. Be grateful we had the balls to experiment with what was available at that time.

Have been looking for a photo of that car for a while, it was a regular at Dover when I was a kid. We actually had the roll bar from it in a Model a coach we were trying to buildback then. (probably 1964 or so.) Was made from used galvanized pipe, square corners of course, with straps goobered around the joints for reinforcement. We mostly towed it around town trying to get stuff welded, and the body eventually ended up on a Jeep. That car was a good runner for it's time, remember guys did what they could with what they had, but judging from the parts we used, calling it a POS probably isn't to far off base. Never realized Bill Kolb was involved in that car, he had a 406 powered '62 Vette at one time, I used the 12" wide wheels from it on my 283 Falcon, a project that actually got finished.

Yup, it looked OK from 150 feet away, in the stands, and the announcer made it into a real important deal to us kids. Plus it was fast.

I love it! If that is a rat rod, then I guess rat rods are traditional afterall. :)

It would be neat to see it with the hood closed (from the side).

Yeah, I'd like to see that too. I think it's a valid concept, just rough around the edges (ALL the edges).
