Yes those pics are Ray. He set records at Daytona back in the 50s. Around here in Orange County N.Y. He was well known and very well liked by those of us into old cars both hot rodders and restorers.
Thank you Joe...We mourn his loss and celebrate his Life... Here is a thread regarding Ray and one including Ray... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...ell-engine-builder-in-ny-older-fellow.182566/ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/barn-party-conforths-shop-pics.195553/#post-2100097
I considered Ray a good friend and will miss him. I met him through my father in law. He spent part of the year here in Daytona every year. He helped me chop the top on my 29 sedan 4 years ago. Sent from my XT1526 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I never met Ray . . . but from the posts above, he seems like the real deal. RIP Ray and I wish all of those who cared for you the very best!
Ray was a real hot rodder. He was a wealth of knowledge. He would always have time to talk to you. Condolences to Ernie and family.
Ray was well known to those of us in the North Jersey area. He was very competitive in mid-1950s drag racing and was briefly a member of the then-new North Jersey Street Rod Assn circa 1970. He started coming to Daytona about the time I moved to Melbourne and I always looked forward to seeing him at the New Smyrna Beach cruise night in his A-vicky. He will be missed.
