  2. A chopped Stude is one of my favorites, up there with a chopped 49 Chevy. I had originally really hope to get one, but couldn't make it happen. Please keep this thread hot with pics. I have some pics at home of an orange Stude with scallops like crazy. I absolutely love that car.

Wrong again, that was Lenny . Its STEVE with the metal talent, thats why we both asked and read about how it was going. Why dont you go back to the plastics factory? As usual trying to hone in on someone else's parade.

And as for the customer always being right, its only to a point . A good hot rod builder or customizer needs to help guide a customer to get the best out of their ride and the STEVE is right, it would look great with a chop.....

A little update on this car,

I started the chop, took 2 inches out and keep the stock lines and angles on the roof so I had to quater the roof. Got it all tacked back together.

And where did you hear that bit of mythological nonsense?
Most folks think Studebaker's 289 was just a Ford engine, despite that fact that Ford didn't bring out a 289 until the early 60's, and the Stude was introduced in 1951.
My point being that Stude engineers didn't copy anyone, nor did they have to.

Hey Steve: See if you can get more BEFORE and after shots up- the old BEFORES arent on the thread anymore.

Hows the car coming anyway? Does Rich like it?

  12. Wow even at this early stage, the chop already brings this car into the perfect mix of style. Really nice. Please conitue spoiling us with updates.

Yeah Rich really likes the way it is coming out. I am also very happy with the way it is coming out. Difficult chop to pull off. I had to split the roof in 4 sections becuase it needed to be widend and lengthend to keep the stook looking profile.

I hopefully will have it finished in a week or so.
I have tons of stuff going on including 3 chops and 2 full builds.
Finally pulling in some good work.

From what I heard- Steve (blacktopbutcher) (who was working on it last) moved to Cali and the the owner never had the car finished.
