    okay second intro

I live in in lewisville texas and I've been riding motorcycles for a few years now. I own a 2001 harley softail springer. I know this bike is not in line with the theme of this message board bit I think my car is. A '53 chevy Bel Aire. I should have pics soon. I need help or I wouldn't bother ya'll again. Does anyone know where I can readily get a master cylinder for the brakes? new or used. Is there a substitute available?

So, I guess I musta missed the first intro, eh?

Not much info in the second...but since this is your second, it'll do.

Did you try NAPA for a rebuild kit? They're are quite a few sites dedicated to early Chevs, altho I don't have links to them...you mite try Patrick's Chevys...try to Google it.

Hey,Welcome back again! Yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah. Try O'Rilleys, they have or can get stuff for a lot for old American cars. I went into autozone, and they had to "special order' a starter for a SBC!!!,they said it was "obsolete'. sorry for the rant. [IMG] seeya, Sparky

Welcome! I'm over in Mesquite, so not too far from you. I'll ditto the NAPA thing. They constantly amaze me what they have on the shelf for stuff that would seem obsolete to me. (Like brake parts for early-50s Chevys!) They usually have the rebuild kits, but it would be worth consideration to put a dual-chamber master cyl under that car.

I would be surprised if you couldnt get a rebuid kit or a whole cylinder from napa, autozone, carquest, checkers etc.

The only problem with Kanter is if they decide to send what you ordered! [IMG]HRP

    Welcome to the HAMB.

On the master cylinder, i bought a re-build kit for my 53 from a local parts store.
It was a wagner part and only paid about 10 bux for it.
They also had a listing for the master itself, although they had to order it..but i coulda had that in a few day's too.
might pay to call a few place's close to you just for the hell of it.
