I'm Vance, my real name is Lee and I'm from a small town just NE of Dayton, OH. I sign my striping with Vance. That's actually my middle name. I'm currently working on a '34 Ford 5-window coupe that I've chopped 2 1/2" myself. This car will be a traditional hot rod and will be run without fenders as long as I can get away with it. The wife wants to run it with the fenders since we have them. I keep using the excuse that the need too much work to justify putting them on right away. I'm leaving them on the back burner, hoping she'll just give up. I recently was GIVEN a 51 Ford flathead to keep it traditional. The guy who gave it to me has a real soft spot for period cars. It's got a Ford 8' rear end and a drop tube front end. The wheels that I have now are Kelsey copies that will be stripped and repainted. As I already mentioned I pinstripe and do kustom paint so when the time comes the coupe will be painted by me. I'm still up in the air on color and style. I am open to suggestions, hint, hint. Waiting in the wings is a '48 Chevy sedan delivery that will recieve a hard core full on kustom work over. The plan is to leave no panel untouched. I'm talking section and channelling and many other things. I'm also a partime college student as well as over my head in the hot rods. That's about all. Anyone rolling thru Dayton, OH, call me. Lunch is on me, providing you're a cheap date! Vance
Sticher1, I gotta be honest, I was gonna go with black suede until I saw everyone else who was talking about going that direction getting flamed over an open fire. I'm a big guy and don't like that kinda heat... My wife is trying to talk me into Viper blue, but to to that and feel authentic, I'd have to do it with some flake thrown in the first coat of clear. At which point I'm kinda lost on wheel color. The motor is already Ford racing blue and I like that, it's not the stock red or bronze for it's year. The blue stays no matter what, it's a kool color. Thanks, Vance
Vance welcome. Color issues you say?? Well there are artists here that could do up a rendering in the color/style you are considering...Hint, hint...but I seem to have forgotten that artist's name. Or we have "photoshoppers" that like to take your car and edit its colors until something strikes a nerve. Always best to SEE your options from a visual observation.----Good luck...NICK
Nice ta meet cha! Sounds like you got your hands full with school, rods and art... I remember when i had that much energy! I do car art too, but a different variety. I'd like to see some of your work sometime. A link to some of mine (if you're interested) is on my profile. Welcome to the HAMB! Have fun play nice with the other children don't bite the teachers
G'day & welcome from Australia. Your flat-powered coupe sounds perfect. I'm a bit of a bright yellow freak but it's a very personal thing. When I was chewin' over what colour to paint my '36 coupe, a friend photocopied a bunch of drawings which could be coloured in. Just like going back to school!! tried 'em with & without flames etc. I also bought a model "kit-car" where I discovered I didn't like a red grille on a yellow '36. Have fun choosin'.
