Some times if you`re patient karma works out.
Sold this `32 5w about five years ago as a very clean stocker after stumbling on to it after a buddy bought a house and the previous owner had to vacate the garage. Sheer luck find and I drove it for a while but I just couldn`t bring myself to hot rod it. I replaced it with a steel 3w Highboy.

My old friend Kenny had no qualms about taking it apart and sitting the body on a new chassis along with a 355/700R4/9" rear. He added air conditioning, 4w disc brakes, and a new firewall before sending it out for interior and a new glide seat. Then he proceeded to drive it everywhere for a couple of seasons really getting to enjoy the car. His work is awesome and the car drives well.
Well he is finally succumbing to the additional comfort a `32 sedan can offer so the coupe was offered to me. Of course I agreed and it is finally back home.
I`ve included a before and after pic.

very nice, not many of us recover nice cars we have parted with. I am a fan of the "after" version.

  3. Congratulations, always great to get a old car back, especially a beautiful coupe. HRP

Holy cow!!! When I saw the "stock" photo I was in full agreement with you about not hot rodding it. It was simply to beautiful of a specimen. That was until I saw the "after" photo. The external change is subtle. It's the what lurks under the cloak that rocks it. A plan that worked to perfection, all gain no pain.

Let's see interior and engine pics.

Thanks guys. I feel fortunate to count Kenny as one of my good friends.
The car goes well with the other coupe as they are at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
The 3w is loud and obnoxious and the 5w is much more sedate.
They don`t fight in the garage...yet.

As one who prefers the 5 window over the 3 that is a perfect example of the suttle hot rods I love. That is beautiful.

Can I triple it? LOL [emoji12] that might be the wrong way to use those words. [emoji2]

I like the before, I like the after!

Any man can restore a car, but it takes a real man to cut one up!
And I will never be man enough to cut that one up.
But I would drive it any day of the week!!

EDIT: And looking at those fenders hugging those tires, I can feel I'm getting dissy, I had to lie down to type this. Because the blood left my head so fast. [emoji2][emoji111]️

    I have to admit.
It couldn`t get any lower and still be drivable and it doesn`t care for old rough roads but the stance is exactly what I would have wanted if I had done it.
Now I`m thinking about putting the fenders back on the 3w.
    Another pic of the stocker...

At first before seeing the pictures I imagined a gorgeous old stocker ruined. In my eyes that change is beautiful.
Other than the late model engine I sure think it was a great choice.
And yes, Your 3 window definitely needs fenders.
    Good for you!!

That car (after) has just the right mix of black paint, shiny bits, stance, and attitude. It's perfect, really.

Good thing too, because I was genuinely worried when I saw just how nice the car (before) was. I don't see anything but improvements, so a big thumbs up to Kenny for doing a nice job.

Your 3w deserves fenders... and maybe a chop too. Talk to Kenny's guys. :D

I would keep them parked far apart so the 3W '90's theme paint does not rub off on the 5 window because it is just beautiful as is.

    Good score.

Your 5 window looks Great. You see it and it says "I am a real '32" The 3 window, makes you wonder.
    Congratulations on your new car.

Beautiful before picture, but the after is so much better!
I think you should consider putting fenders on the 3 window too. ;)

    Thanks.
Even though the 3w is an original all steel car it does look suspect with the filled top and the color choice.
It was on the cover of Streetrodder in `92. That tell you anything?
I see guys tapping on it with their knuckles when no one is looking. Kind of fun to watch `em.
It is street roddy throughout but it`ll get better with fenders ( fenders, light bar and running boards came with the car), losing the flames, a new louvered hood and some new interior next year when I retire. I`ve already changed the headlamps, wheels and exhaust just so it can be seen in public. It`s got a gear drive in it. Remember those?

I have a `50 Chevy pickup and a `39 Ford sedan to finish before the 3w gets any additional love.
But in the end it`s still a drivable steel coupe and I`m happy to have it.
