Ready to Roll with my 51 Plymouth Concord

Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by fadingfastsd, Aug 6, 2008.

  1. Hey guys,

I joined up in January, just to look around and see what this place was all about. I haven't had a classic since my bro and I sold our 59 Fairlane a year ago.

I'm a 25 year old Electrical Engineer, web designer, motorcycle & car junkie.
I live in San Diego, CA...so if any of you guys are local, we should meet up!

I've been around cars with my bro (betteroffalone on here),
started out with our 66 Mustang GT in high school which served to get me hooked on cars. I still have that one, sitting in my parents garage a couple hours away. i've been through a 61 Linc Continental daily driver, 61 Sedan DeVille, 67 F250 (with a ridiculous built 352), and various other cars & trucks. And last was the 59 Fairlane. Since selling that thing I've been looking to get back in the game.

Anyways, I had some extra money, and just came up on a beautiful 51 Plymouth Concord. 2 door, fastback, partly restored.
It's got a new interior, 97k original miles, original flathead 6, 3 on the tree, and runs amazingly well. I'm looking to keep it as my DD, while messing around with it, and customizing & upgrading various things.
This one will be a keeper for awhile!
I got it from a really nice old guy who kept it in DD shape for $3500.
Clean title, current reg, and its ready to roll...not a bad deal, but what do you guys think on price?

Anyways, here's some pics, and I'm lookin forward to hitting you guys up for info on what I can do to this thing!

    Evan

    Money well spent. Congratulations!
In a weeks time, I'd shave the accessory lights and bumper guards, install some lowering blocks and fender skirts, and be cruisin' in style. Further shaving (and resulting primer spots), cut coils, and hopping the six can wait!

  3. Thanks alot! I've been driving it every day, it's a blast.
I'm gonna get started on it pretty soon.
That yellow has got to go...it's not gonna work.

I'm working on a plan right now. First thing I wanna do is wake up that flathead.

$3500 looks like a helluva bargain to me. Very nice. But yea, eventually ya gotta lose those add-on indicators next to the headlights. Old dudes always have that "modern" safety stuff on their cars. Oh yea, and welcome to the HAMB. I'm still an FNG myself.

  5. haha ya the add-on turn signals aren't too hot.
They'll be going soon along with alot of other parts!

That is a beautiful, beautiful thing! I look forward to seeing what you do to freshen up the six as my project has a very similar engine. I think the yellow is hot, but I'd metalflake the roof in a contrasting colour.....but that's just me.
Once again....awesome ride and I look forward to progress.

  7. Thanks alot. Ya I was gonna ask opinions...what do you guys think of the yellow?
Personally it's not my style at all...too plain.

But maybe leave the yellow and do a different color roof?
    I dunno...

  9. Hey guys thanks for the replies!
Keep me posted on your similar projects.
The cars in great shape, but I think the yellow is gonna have to go, it's just not my style.

Hey LoSoto, where is Adelaide exactly? My friend from AU was just out here about a month ago, staying w/ me in San Diego. She's from Melbourne.
I went out there in high school for about 1.5 months, and traveled all over the country, had a great time!

Adelaide is about 7 hours drive east of Melbourne. A smaller city of around 1 million people. Great cruisy lifestyle, a little less cosmopolitan than Melbourne, but nicer, not as 'grey'.
Can't wait to keep an eye on your project.

  11. welcome...lookin' forward to seeing you car...welcome to the best site in cyberspace
