hey, good deal. You will have fun with that project. I would leave it unchopped. All these 5 windows coming out of the woods lately - makes me wonder if I should pull the 3 window body off the chassis and put a 5 window on instead!

I feel pretty lucky having it. I can't figure out if I should flat black it or what. Man, everybody flat blacks em. I think I will leave it rusty for awhile it's going to stay inside. What colors would you guys put on it? I don't want any shiny stuff to clean I want to take it to the Jalopy Showdown and run it around the dirt track.

  3. Hey Defiance B,

Cool car! Jackbolt sent me some pics of it a few days ago. Here are a couple of pics of my '34 5-window to go with my vote for "no chop".

I'm gonna get ripped for this, but hear me out; Do yourself a favor and don't chop it yet. The reason I say this is because the closer you get to driving it, the more you're gonna want to. If you chop it now, it'll add just that much more time to building it and getting it on the road, (unless you're paying someone else to chop it). If you get it running and driving now, you can take the first winter afterward to chop it and finish the chop throughout that winter.

I thought it would be smarter to chop mine during the first stages of building my coupe and I seriously believe that it pushed out the 'first drive' date by too much and dammit, I wanted to drive it.

You can always go back and chop it later. You can't go back and drive it that first time again later. Just remember if you do it this way, DON'T do the interior until AFTER you chop it. Now that would be silly.

I've seen that car poking out of the barn in the field. There is also guy on 35 with an old Hudson and some old tin signs. He has an old motorcycle frame perched in his front yard

Yeah, You guys are right I was thinking the same thing about the Chop after I seen it on the ground with the wheels on it. I had did some trading with a buddy of mine to chop it and then I descided to just help me button it back up so I can get it on the road. I think I made a good decision, thanks for all the tips.

Nice find, judging by the building to the left it was out in plain sight, smart move stepping up and buying it.

Here are some pictures of my 52 Pan Head my buddy is working on. His motorcycle shop is in an old Harley bar in a small little town called Murpheytown,WV. He has alot of neat shit laying around and hanging on the walls.

You W.Va. guys are driving me crazy! I used to live in Chas. & we'd drive all over the hills looking for old iron, and found alot & bought a few. That was back in the 50's & I'm still hooked. Love your new ride. I'd probably not chopped these days.

I had those same ugly Appliance wheels on a Javelin in HS. By the way, thats the ONLY similarities between those two cars. Haha.
