Another thing to consider, the wheel people are saying is made in China...

Maybe it's the lip around the window that make people want to say they are Halibrands, I don't know*. But they are definitely not the Halibrand design. Pat produces awesome wheels that are SOOO worth the admission price and are very true to the originals. Something really cool about an unmolested set of original Hals too.

Sorry, no help I guess. OTHER, than to say, that OTHER, inexpensive wheel is not even a distant cousin to Ted Halibrand's invention.

*they are actually the old Mehelich design which was designed in the "spirit" of THE wheel.

I have found that the alloy used on the Chinabrands is very soft and mars easily if you drop a lug nut on it. The only reason I didn't pick real Rodders wheels for the 15 x 10 rear on the Willys is because they have a step in them on the exposed outer half from the center to the rim flange rather than the continuously radiused Chinabrands in this size....

  3. Had a set of Eric Vaughans on my T-hoe and I really liked them. If they made that vehicle look they would like right on any hot rod.

I'm not sure if these are Halibrands but this quickie photoshop might give you an idea of how your car could look.

Actually, if I remember correctly they were designed to "blur the line" between the Halibrand sprint wheel and the E T III 16x10 wheel from the sixties. Back in the late eighties and early nineties when they first came out they were knock off only and damned expensive too! But either way, Halibrand they are not...

That was my thinking also on vintage Halibrands, pretty much going the Real Rodder route on the 35.

thats great, fun photo shop ! going 15 x 5.5(6) frt & 15 x 7 rears.. the chrome steels on it right now are 15 x 6 front(3" back space) and the rears are 15 x 7 (4" rear back spacing)

Everyone is talking about the wheels but I'm thinkin about the aesthetics of the whole car....don't see where the new rims improve that. My two cents.

I don't follow you, you say aesthetics ? I'm just looking to have a different set of wheels for change of pace when I'm tired of the chromes.. So with "aesthetics" what would be your ideas ??? Just my five sents worth . lol

I see a huge change in the aesthetics! It will give the car a completely different personallity just with a change of wheels. I'm not a huge fan of chrome reverse wheels, but I have to admit it does look great the way it is. But put it on some big window Halibrands (real wheels) and instantly it changes from "custom cute" to "Agressive!!!". Not sure what tires your thinking, but if radials are your plan, 165x15" for the front and 235x15 for the rear are the way to go and damn near a slam dunk to fit with those wheels sizes. Oh, blackwalls only, please...

black walls for sure, right now I'm running a 205/70-15 on the front and the rears are a 235/75-15.... Big windows for sure, kidney bean wrong era ... I really am going the Real Rodder route... The photo shop was fun to see, but I won't run a spindle mount style looking wheel.. Big window front and rear..

Oh Boy, a chance to throw in my two cents.

I'd say stick with the chrome Reverse and narrow whites. Looks perfect. RRW's or Halibrands I think make a Fat Fendered car like that look very "street-rod". Like you just pulled the "Boyd's" off and slapped on the halibrand's/RRW's to keep up with the current trend.

Unless that is your planning to switch up the entire look and go g***er, or fat cheaters hanging out of the fenders at least.

I think I would go just a bit shorter on the front tires to add just a touch more rake. The tire combo that I mentioned is kind of the "traditional" early Ford on mags combo. The 205x15 on the mags will end up looking just a little "off". Trust me on this one!

I ran the 205 x 15 out front on the chrome steels because the car looked good with the tire size that was on the painted 53-54 Bel-Air rims, they do look good... But for sure with the Real rodder I would run a 165-15 for sure.. Old Michelin XZX would look killer or Firestones.

Chromes with baby moons. Something simple to compliment the coupe not not stand out from it................
Maybe a little adjustment on the stance.........

And they look great on your 32' Hi-Boy, but a lowered Fat Fendered Ford, not so much.

Here' an example I found. Can't tell me this looks better than your car already does.

Just a matter of taking the car from the mid to late fifties to the early to mid sixties... I can't imagine a world were a thirty five five window wouldn't look good with Halibrands or Americans...
