New to this, but not new to much of anything else. 65 years old, grew up son of a professional mechanic. Became a "shade tree" mechanic as soon as my hands were big enough to turn a wrench. Changed drum brakes (yep, I took them all the way off the first time and Dad had to show me how to get them back together. And yes, he laughed at me for not leaving a "pattern" set together.) Didn't know what to do when I changed a generator and it didn't work. Dad stepped in again and showed me how to set the polarity on the voltage regulator. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I love to learn. Loved my cars while I was growing up and wish now that I had kept them all. One of my sons-in-law is a car hobbyist, has a great shop with a lift, lots of tools and that is where I get my kicks now. Health won't allow me to work on them much any more, so I just supervise. He has a '58 Chevy pickup, 6 cylinder inline. Really cool old truck, and I have a '64 Buick Electra 225. Both are project vehicles that may get done someday.
Welcome from another dull knife in the drawer. Man I can relate to the health issues, tried to replace a brake light switch in an OT vehicle but the angle it was at wouldn't allow me to focus my trifocals no matter which way I moved my head. Talk about aggravating!! Might as well have been pitch black out. Grrrrrrrrr!!!! But I digress, welcome. Its fun here.
