    Howza Bruthas,
On project Miss Carraige, we have a Model A rear axle. The spring rests on top of the axle. Is it possible to place the spring in front of the axle? How do ya do it?
    Thanx as always!

You can buy the brackets from P&J,among others,
originally intended to mount the spring behind the axle.
Put them on backwards to mount the spring in front of the rear axle.

Spooky, you might also be able to use a 39-40 axle, reverse the housing and I think accomplish this spring in front

I agree, the later rear would be stronger, not a lot of weight difference, the A spring will still work, and the hydraulic brakes will bolt on right.
I tried the stock spring on my reversed rear (37-8) and there wasn't enough travel space between the torque tube and the spring bolts, 3 or 4 inches.

'40 rear axle. I swapped sides with the axle housings.

Left to right and right to left.

In the post of Jamie's modified.....that's how he did it too. Reversing the tubes is all you need to do....
