Technical Rear axle offset spec 1953 3100

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alteredpilot, May 7, 2024.

  1. Searched... couldn't find it.

I need to make some axle relocation plates for a 1953 Chevrolet 3100, but I can't remember the spec for the offset for the pins. I seem to recall 2" but it's been years. Any help?

    Thanks in advance

I think it kind of depends on what you consider to be the center of the opening in the fender. It's asymmetrical, so you can come up with different answers, mostly depending on how much it's lowered.

    Good luck....

1.5" is the number I remember.

It's either 1-1/2 or 1-3/4 depending on who's info you read.
Classic parts sells some nice spring pads for AD trucks that fit the 1-3/4 springs that have a correct offset hole drilled in them. They also set the truck at the right height in the rear rather than raising it up as Moroso or other pads do when you use them. Screenshot (142).png

Best idea I can give is that if you still have the old axle sitting there is to flip it over and measure the distance from the center of the hole in the mount piece to the centerline of the axle.
