I want to change my rear axle so I can lower my 1949 chevy truck. I when to a impound yard and found what I hope is the right axle. It's out of a 67 el camino it has coil springs and contol arms just like the 1970 chevelle does. What do you think? The guy how does my welding says, he'll make it work. I need to change my torque tube out to a open drive line. Anybody have a open rear yoke to a 420sm?

    Thanks

Go with a 4X4 S-10.newer ones have disc brakes. You won't be sorry.

  3. The Raven uses rears out of '80s model Trans Ams in his AD trucks. They are a perfect fit. I don't know about the Elco. Maybe it is the correct width.

I don't know about how it is done where you live but around here anything that comes from an impound yard is considered stolen property.

thanks for all your help. I'd like to stay with my 16 inch six lug factory rims, how hard is it to adapt 5 lug to six lug?
