1952-59 Ford rear bumper bracket mounting.

My rear bodywork has been modified...I have to cut it slightly for my bumper mounts to p*** through.. I was going to cut it tonight, but it got too dark. Can any of you guys tell me whether they mount on the inside or outside of the frame?
