Hot Rods REAR COILS

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by coololdcars, Dec 28, 2016.

  1. I need a recommendation for some coils in the rear of the Anglia on my avitar? Currently has 5" or so dia in it but they are killer stiff. Trying to keep this car as built in the early 60's so I'd really like to find something to replace them rather that change it all up. Got any ideas ???

  2. my idea would be to calculate the spring rate you have now before making any changes. then figure out what rate you actually need , then try to find some coils that will fit and work. you have to know where you now are before moving forward

the formula escapes me now, should be able to find on the interweb...or a guy like Squirrel would know it

i'm sure the spring companies have their springs listed by size and rate

Check with these guys. They have made several sets for me and are very knowledgeable. I was sent to them by Detroit Spring, so that says something.

The speedway race catalog which can be accessed online will have what you need.

I'll just throw this out there, a lot of early/mid sixties coil spring race cars used corvair coils.

Yea, I think they list the spring rate too.
