I'm currently running a 56 1/2 inch wide rear end on my 66 Chevy 1/2 ton. I am using newer GM wheels & a 1.5 inch six lug custom spacer on each side. Does anyone have know of a web source that lists rear end dimensions? I'd like to move up to a 60 inch wide rear end, maybe even getting disc brakes, 3.50 ratio & posi. Thanks Old Jeep Dog
go to carnut web site and click on tech...they have a bunch of rearend widths...i would do it for you but i'm tired of posting the info every week because some guys can't see the search function...
Yikes, some bad information here. The 84-85 Mustang is 60" but certainly not something you use in a pickup truck. Cast-in 4 link brackets and skinny tapered axle tubes. A 73-80 Chev 4x4 is way too wide. A 55-57 Chev rear end is something to swap out of vehicles , not in. The Camaro/Nova 10 or 12 bolt will work. Other types that can be used with different wheel patterns are a 67-70 Mustang 9" or a B body Mopar.
My mistake , your're right . I did get that for my 55 Ford . I was thinking of my 38 Ply p/p that has the shorter rear that is 57" and I do have a Ford rear for that also . Can't remember what it's out of but I think a Maverick or something along that line .
Get a 67-69 Camaro 10 bolt w/ 5 lugs and take the axles and drums to a machinist and have them redrilled for 6 lug. I got a 3.08 gear which is a little more freeway friendly. That's what I did last week!!!
IH Scout is 58" ,Jeep cherokee is about 60" Old style full size Wagoneer or cherokee is also about 60". The Scout and full size Cherokee are both Dana 44s. Any gear or posi, lockerand spool available. Full size Cherokee also is 6 lug. Scout 5on5.5 small cherokee 5on4.5
60" on the 1st gen camaro, 61" on the 2nd gen just went and measured one... I think 9"ford from a 69-73 mustang or cougar is 60" or 61" also
