This might be a little OT but this is the most knowledgeable forum I go to... I have a Jag rear end in a 1924 ford. The rear end blows oil out the vent at a huge rate. the rear is a stock 86 jag, with an aftermarket finned cover. The cover is supposed to hold an extra quart of oil. It didnt come set up for a vent, do I drilled and tapped it (1/8" npt) for one, and initially ran a 1/4" line up, made a loop and ran it into the frame. Oil poured out of my frame. So I then drilled the hole out to 1/4" npt and run a 3/8" line up, and made a small tank to catch the oil, and filled it with an open cell foam to try and catch the oil in the vapors. Then ran my 1/4" vent line off that to the frame. Slowed it down, but still big leak. Finally I drained the oil, replace it with the thickest gear oil my local auto parts store had. I think it was 90w140. And only put in half what I needed (1/2 of what it held with the extra quart. So it probably has a little less than what it would have stock) Does any one have any idea why it would be pushing so much oil out the vent ? Any other suggestions on how to fix it ?
Cap the vent you drilled. Then put one in thehighest possible spot you can and not in line with the ring gear. You probably put the hole low and in the path of the oil coming off either the ring gear or bearing surface. Let's see some pictures of the T. I love the combo.
