    What kind of rear end is under the an 82 crown vic 302?

    Highly doubt it....no 8.8`s till 1986....probably a 7.5" or 8".
     
  3. Oops, not a Ford guy, but I do have a Crown Vic rear. BTT for Squirrell or somebody who knows for sure.

    7.5" under the vics if its a 302 car, 8" if its a 351 "intercepter" model from what i remember

    See if it's on the door tag, if so call the parts dept. of your local dealer. My '83 Interceptor has 8.8.

    thats not right...because Ford introduced the 8.8" in 1986.

    just look at the damn thing, does it have a bolt on rear cover? that means it's not an 8 or 9"

    if it does not have a bolt on rear cover then it's an 8 or 9, look at the lower two studs if you can get to them with a deepwell socket then it's an 8" if not it's 9"

    Mine is defenitly not an 8 or 9, has the bolt-on back plate.
