Rear Ends!

    To all the experts, Will a 56 chevy nomad rear end fit a 53 210 and handel a 350 V8 with a 350 trans?

    Yeah it will fit... I had a 57 chevy rear under my 37 Chevy and I used to hammer the shit out of it. I had a 327 punched 30 with a strong cam and bottom end probubly around 360 ponies. The only thing I'd suggest is some sort of traction device ( at least if you are going to beat it up ).The one failure I had was from spring wrap up...Broke the u-joint in 2 and consequently bent the driveshaft. But the rear never broke in 13 years!!!

    Yea i'm going to rebuild the chassie and put a 4 link and bags, just was making sure it would fit and handel the stock V8. thanks for your help.:)
     
  4. The 56 rearend is not the strongest, but it will hold up as long as you don't put serious power in front of it or really hook up with slicks. These rears have a 8.2 ring gear with a drop-put center section, so they are fine for most small blocks. The factory used them in 348 and 409 cars, so that should tell you that they are reasonably strong.

    I have had foure vehicles with them, all with SBC's, and nver had any problems with the rearends.
