I am looking to upgrade the rear shocks on my 39 Ford coupe fitted with the parallel leafs conversion. Wondering what to buy? Anyone have this experience? Thanks, John.
Bought Bilstein from Speedway for the front of my Tudor. After 2 seasons the left one began leaking. Bilstein rep says " This is normal for the universal-fit products." I asked" After a given amount leaks out, do they become less efficient? That shouldn't happen for tens of thousands of miles was the reply Zero recourse. The other sidestart seeping last year. So-Cal replacement on the horizon.
Could you please explain briefly what you mean by 'upgrade' and what - if any - problems you have with what is there now?
So are the shocks you have still good??? I've all ways found that the mounting is more important than the shock it's self.... is the ride height in the center of the stroke....?? what problems are you having??? some times shocks are mounted too close to either bottoming out or fully extended... does the spring bottom out???? or does the shock bottom out before the spring??? i've fixed this before with Sumo snubbers.... make sure the suspension is correct first.. I've seen where too long of shock was used to stop tire rub... harsh ride when hitting a bump... shock life is short and they start leaking....then they do nothing but limit down travel...shocks will do there job if the suspension is correct...
