Howza Bruthas, On my never ending pursuit of jalopysism(c), I am wondering about a rear spring idea I have. See, I have the remains of an old Buick beam axle with some pretty serious looking leafs on them. It is nearly the width of the Model A frame. I am wondering if this spring combined with the shackles it originally came with (which look pretty damned heavy duty as well) will work for the rear of my roadster project? See, I am trying to keep from Z'ing the frame, because it would raise my gas tank above the rear of the car. I like the look of the banjo rear and I am still trying to keep to a budget here. Any opinions? Here is a pic of the spring and shackles...
and with that many leaves in the pack,it wouldn't have much compression when used as a rear spring. If you mounted it behind the diff like a 35, 36.....ford, it should be fine with some of the leaves taken out. But that would mean moving the crossmember back.
Alright my friends, I am going to mount it up and see what it looks like. I justrealised I took a pic of the spring with the shackles in the WRONG direction. D'OH!
