I have removed the rear spring from my '40 Ford, what is left is the shackle pin stuck in the mount. It will shuck in and out about 1/4", if I hit it in with a hammer and then pry it back with a pry bar. Can someone tell me how these are made originally? it looks like there is a "cup" that is rusted to the outer wall, and the inner piece will move but only 1/4" and then it is solid, same in or out. How do I get these pins out to put the new ones in? Both sides are the same. I hate to have to drill them out it looks like I could use a chisel to cut out the end cap and then pound out the inner pin and then address the bushing drill that out too....anyone have a trick to getting this done?
