I just installed a large acc. STOP light on the back of my truck. Legally can it be lit with the regular park lights as well as stop or just when the stop lights are on?
Isn't it more effective as a stop only light? However, I do see lots of pickups with LED strips under the tailgate that work as a parking/brake light. Not sure if they're street legal or not. All of the factory installed third brake lights are brake only.
Good point on the factory third brake lights. I would agree it is more effective as just a stop light. Just wondering about the legality.
If it is able to be wired as a parking light and brake light and it doesn't say for off road use only, it should be legal. Aftermarket accessories alway have disclaimers if it is illegal for highway use.
The light is gl*** and is early 50's vintage. I can wire it both ways, but will just use it as a brake light for now.
I just read the rules on a different forum yesterday! This is copied from the Canadian rule book. Stop Lamps-Minimum 2-Red-On the rear - symmetrical - as far apart as practicable-height 380-1830mm (15-72inches)
