i found a way to lower the **** out of the rear of my truck but now the bump stop hits the axl. how can i weld in some sort of kick up in and then cut out the old frame
depends on how much travel you need...and seein as how ur sittin on the bumpstops now id say u need a bunch. u could start by plating the inside of the rail, which will give you a good solid foundation to start with, run the plate prolly 12 inches either side of the " notch" you are gonna create. unless u just wanna go ahead and plate the whole frame. figure out where the notch is to be positioned, center of axle and clearance on eiher side for whatever will be p***ing thru this "notch". now if your only looking for a couple of inches, you could get away with using some tubing cut in two pieces so as to get the half moon effect, sink them up into the rails. determinig how far is the tricky part. of course you want to go far enough so the ride sits where you want it but be sure not to totally destroy the structural integrity of what youve been building. i wouldnt go furthur than halfway thru the rail, if you need to for the clearance, this is where the rail turns into a step notch. which is something you can buy in kit form, but whats the fun in that. anyway the idea is not to cut the frame off first, build the notch around the rail, and then cut out whats in the way of the axle. measure twice, cut once. and good luck.
Heres a pic I got off of www.RuffRodders.comThis is what i would do! And then redo the leaf spring so you can get rid of the lowering block.
