1952-59 Ford rear tail gate spring

does any body know where i can get a pair of upper tail gate spring for a 1954 ranch wagon mine are missing.call mac n/g.call a junk yard in texas there want $150 a side with the brackets.help

 

I'm keen to hear of a supplier also . Wifey's '55 ranchwagon is also missing them .

 

Is it possible to use springs from something else and have them cut down to work ? I am not really sure what they look like or what size they are . If you have some pictures and dimensions , maybe someone just might know where to find some that will work .

they look like hood spring but not to heavy.

The local yard here has a 54 ranch wagon I will check to see if they are still there

I have two springs from a ranchwagon parts car that may be from the tailgate. I'll check tonite. May also have the bracket that the spring fastens on to.

I just looked at a 55 wagon and at a glance, the hinge mechanism and springs look the same as a 54. And i would then ***ume that a 56 would be similiar. Maybe you don't have to limit your search to just 54 cars.
