Am trying to install rear trac bars from Summit that came with no instructions (and haven't been able to acquire any). Anyone know how, or have pics of theirs attached to the springs? Or maybe there's been a tech on it. Or would anyone like to see a tech on it?
check it.. should be an easy install. http://www.advanceautoparts.com/howtos_tips/automedia_html/res/RES20040101FS/index.html?page=/howtos_tips/automedia_html/res/RES20040101FS/RES20040101FS.htm err, ok ... traction bar... should bolt onto the leaf springs
Thanks, Plan9! Actually, that's for a rear trac link bar. This is the universal Lakewood setup I'm working with:
I think I'm in th process of finding out how easy it is (and how dumb I'm about to feel), except I'll need to get longer U-bolts. Anyone have pictures of 'em on their ride?
...but then simplistic looks can fool ya. Just trying to make sure I'm on the right track. Just need longer U-bolts, first.
I do not recall anyone using this setup on a rear that was mounted below the spring. I have never had an application like this myself and I do not recall looking at one that was set with these bars and a rear mounted below the spring. Seems like you need a different style traction bar.
Hmmmm... will have to call them 'bout that. Thanks for the tip. Had a co-worker with a '69 Mustang with a similiar rear leaf set up, with similiar trac bars. Damn, I shoulda took pics when I knew her. Ok... thanks for the tip! I'm beginning to feel dumb... y'know that sense, as it's approaching? Yep.
Thought I'd continue to give it a shot, yesterday... after a run to Ace for longer U-bolts, and tying the rear break line to the frame, I got concerned this line will end up pinched in action, between the bars and the frame, but have nowhere else to steer the line out of the way. What do you think?
