I know there is a FAQ about this and was a recent post I thought. I am trying to find out what Maverick years are a direct bolt in for a 53' Customline. I remember it has to be a 6 cylinder but cant remember years. I am hoping I just hit the jackpot on a rearend swap.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Will

Wrong, you want the 8 cylinder rear not the six. Maverick rears are getting hard to find 1988-92 Ford Ranger 8.8 are stronger and many have Posi and use the same bolt pattern and are a lot less $$.Use the search icon in the upper left and type in Ranger 8.8 and you will find a lot more info.

Hey Will---most Maverick's have 8" rear ends in them regardless of whether they're 6 or 8 cyl. But like Jeff said a Ranger rear may be a better choice----hard to find a posi 8" in a Maverick---more common in a Ranger. Jeff is the 8.8 Ranger a direct bolt in?

Both the Maverick and the Ranger rears will require some tweeks as they will use a different U-joint at the rear from our early Fords. This picture shows an 8.8 installed in a '53 Ford with lowering blocks. \'54 8.8 rear.jpg
