Was drivin to get my exhaust system done this morning and was rearended. Lady wasnt paying attention. We were stopped in traffic. Smashed up the rear end pretty good. Will probably need a new gas tank, bumper and license plate holder/filler cap? Gettin ready to go to urgent care now. My pops has been in the E.R. since about 10:30 this morning. He'll probably be alright. Real bummer. Those Smithys were gonna sound damn good! Anywho, thought I'd let you guys know about the car.

What a tough break! Hope you guys are all okay. The car stuff can be replaced.

Almost happened to me last night. Heavy rush hour traffic, taking the kids back to Detroit Metro Airport, fortunately I was in wifey's Highlander and not my '56. I had to stop fast (accident if front of us)and the lady behind us almost did us in. I glanced in the rearview mirror and saw nothing but a sideways Aztec and heard screeching tires, I still don't know how she missed us. We had just p***ed her, she had a little tyke in a kiddy seat - IN FRONT (illegal in MI) and she was texting away . . . It's a warzone out there.

    Keep us posted.

dragonknucks- man, I'm sorry to hear about that. It is a war zone out there. I almost got greased the other day by some chick freakin' texting. Law goes into effect in WI soon- hopefully we get a law against talking on a cell while driving soon. Nothing but trouble.

Here's a tip: in the future have the officer on the scene check the offender's call or text history. The evidence will be right there.

Sorry to hear this . I really hope your Dad is doing OK . The car can always be fixed . I will bet anything she had a damn phone in her hand !
I was almost nailed 3 times this week due to people pulling out on me and not paying attention with a damn phone in their hands ! One women had a huge grease burger in her hand and a soda in the other ! Yes you heard me right . I have no idea how she was steering the car but she was all over the road . I finally p***ed her and she was shoving the burger in her face with the grease running down her arm . Why can't these people just eat where they bought it ?
I will say the more close calls I see or am close to being in are all due to cell phones and their texing ! That is one modern thing that can take a trip !
Keep us informed on how your Dad is doing .

I trust everything is going to be okay, especially you and your Dad. The car can be fixed or replaced...

Texting while driving has become an accident epidemic. For some reason the young and the stupid find it addicting.

Ultimately, however, it is responsible people like you and your Dad who pay the price.

First I hope your "Pops" is going to be good. What a pisser!!! We have laws here against driving with a cell or texting.... but...... I see more of that now than ever before! I'm on the road a lot and see it everyday mostly by girls. I hope they had insurance.... don't let their insurance guy jerk you around!

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words. Day 3 and pops and I are still a little sore. We'll recover soon. Her insurance called me and took a report. Said they would have an appraiser come out to check out the car. Think I should have someone else do it as well? That way I'm not getting fully jerked by her insurance? Advice is very appreciated. Thanks again everyone.
