I remember a front engine Jack Christman car ran one. Also recall the oiler drip with a big puddle on the ground

In the mid to late 50's there were only two choices for driving a blower. A Potvin crank driven set up, or a chain drive top mounted blower. Tom Beatty used multiple V belts for a while, and sold pulleys to make a V belt drive. Then Gilmer toothed belts showed up, and became the standard. The best chain drive was sold by Howard Johansen. The chai was fully enclosed ina two piece aluminum case that replaced the engines front cover, and the blower snout, and ran in an oil bath.

Here's Gene Mooneyham's home built chain drive. He soon switched to a Gilmer belt set up by Delta Machine.
