Hey everybody. I'm at the Charlotte Auto fair and am looking at the rebel wiring kit to redo the old girl. There are several kits that they have. How may circuits do I need keeping in mind that I will be adding vintage air and have a GM alternator? They said that I would have to make my own circuit for backup lights. Anyway, sorry for the last minute question but if there are any issues with this company or fitment of this kit into our cars please let me know asap! Thanks!
I used the 9+3 kit in my '54. It was a breeze. I don't have A/C but I wouldn't think it would be an issue to use one of the extra 3 circuits for it. You'd have an extra for the backup lights too. I also have a GM alternator.
does ir do away with all the sub harnesses (like the harness up in the front that the parking lights plug into)? Also does it have wires for the dome light and such?
The kits replace virtually every wire in the car. Of course you need to have your big battery and starter wires but the kits are complete. I am staying 6 volt or I'd gladly get another kit and put one on mine. They are easy to use and you can rout the wires where you want to hide them and there is a lot extra for it. Much easier to do than you think. Good luck with it.
There is one thing that will probably come up and that is wiring the headlight switch, most wiring kits are "GM friendly" so the guys that have used the 9+3 kit can p*** that info on to you.Since you are adding A/C you need to add some relays into your circuit here is some good info on that: http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/tips Click on the topic " A current topic" do add the HD relay to the ACC terminal of the key switch one thing that comes up is the issue of dim headlights as most 12 volt headlamps are now Halogen so relays are a good add-on there this will make it EZ for you: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281146739569?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
