How are people rebuilding flathead starters, do they sell a kit? Or are they hunting stuff down one piece at a time Johnny Cash style, LOL This question goes for other parts as well.

I have mine rebuilt at a shop in town, they do starters and alternators/generators. He charges $35-60.00 depending on condition. You can buy the starter drive and bendix spring and brushes and do it yourself but for me it is cheaper and easier to let a pro do it and I get a warranty with it.

    yeah, that makes sense
thanks for the tip, you made me think of a place i know that does just starters and alternators.

i was drooling watching the long beach california shows and jesse walked into a huge shop that all they did was rebuild carbs, It didn't matter how old or what it was and the guy rebuilt any carb for like, 35 dollars.
