Oh please don’t polish the valve covers. Those things and the “dual mags” took that engine bay to holy big show look so well.

As a fan of the car far awhile now I wonder what it must be like to a first timer when they see it. I can remember when I got hooked but it’s so much more viscous now.

  3. The strange style with sleeves is the older style. They don't sell them anymore.

  4. It's been a busy day getting the interior cleaned up. My buddy mark stopped by today. While I worked on the front end he pulled the seats and started cleaning the cage. Six hours later it's ready to get gun blued tomorrow. That's alot of nasty hard work. Cleaning the frame also gives us a chance to inspect all the welds for cracks. That's why it's not painted. 20200208_190828.jpg

  5. Cool pic Brian,
With all the wiring hanging down,,,it looks like the inside of the Lunar module during Apollo ,,,Lol.
Definitely a lot is involved to make that dude right !

Sorry about the confusion on the 5/8 studs I mentioned.
Yes,,,they are larger than 5/8,,,,,there is a shoulder that bottoms against the 5/8 hole in the axle flange,,,,with a lock nut on the back of the flange . They screw into the axle .
These are hardened studs,,,made from quality steel,,,,,,,they are almost bullet proof .
When I bought mine back in 1985,,,,they were 80 bucks extra,,,with my custom axles from Mark Williams,,,,and MW called them 5/8 ,,at least I think so,,,maybe they were listed as 11/16,,,,I will have to get out my old papers and see .
Seems they were listed as 5/8 Drive Studs,,,,I know they were so tight on my new Weld wheels at the time I had to get a reamer and clean the holes up a little to mount my wheels .
Awesome quality,,,,they still look new even today,,,!

Man,,,,,I really do enjoy seeing the pics of your car,,,there’s nothing like quality work !

  6. If anything is going to happen to the mag parts they will get re dow-7.

Salty there was a special tool to remove the sleeves. The sleeves had two square notches in them. A piece of tube with two square bumps fit into the notches in the sleeve. The tube had a hole drilled in it allowing a screw driver to go through at a 90 degree angle to act as a handle. I have the tool some were. It wasn't easy to use.

The George Ray's date is the third weekend in may.

Man I wish I lived near you I would be over in a flash to help with the cleanup. :)

  8. I would be glad to have you over. Hop on the next flight out it's only maybe twenty hours or so in the air. I'm not taking anymore over time until after the show so I should be around. I will keep you busy.

  9. Dad gum,,,20 hours in the air,,,,,,where is the right coast ?
I assumed he meant the Eastern sea board .

Oh yeah,,,Loudbang,,,I admire your tagline,,,,,,”Rough men stand ready”,,,,so true !

  12. I'm gaining on it. I treated the cage four times. It looks real good. So good that the parachute handle looked out of place not polished. I took care of that in no time. That's just how things go sometimes. I also did some things to get ready to start it up. Fluids were put into the dana and bruno. The converter bolts went it and other small jobs. All said a good day of progress. After looking at the new post I missed a spot on the cage. I think I'm going to use a flashlight to go over each bar. 20200209_192128.jpg 20200209_192219.jpg 20200209_192235.jpg

  18. My neighbor Jerry Richio lives just down the road. He came over to wet sand and buff the car. The paint was getting a texture to it like the clear went on dry. The paint didn't have the same glow like it used to. I have known jerry for 30 plus years. He has always done body and paint work. His 55 chevy is bad ass. He has owned it since 1975. It originally looked like the two lane black top car with a straight axle. It has turned some impressive times at the track. I don't trust my skills buffing this car. It has alot of raised body lines that could get burned. As jerry works you can see the transformation to a car that glows again. Today's work was well worth it. 20200215_131003.jpg 20190902_121202.jpg

You never notice how best the paint looks until you cut and polish it again and the un touched spots look like a gravel road all of a sudden lol.

cant wait to see what it does this season!

  23. It's a mopar color from a viper. Stryker green. Its darker and has metallic and pearl in the paint. It really lights up on a sunny day.

    Wow...nice.
Takes a village to build a show/drag coupe.
I'll look for it at Autorama.
I won't have to look too hard.

Did you have success registering for Drag Week? I figured that is why you didn’t show up at Buckets.
